OUR PROGRAM
At Hillhouse Angus Ranch, we select for low input type of cattle with emphasis on maternal function and forage efficiency while maintaining the maximum amount of performance possible. As a leading seedstock producer, we strictly manage our cowherd, striving to provide you with genetics that will be the most successful for your operation. To do this, we push our cattle to be efficient in an environment that offers little margin for error. Our goal is to raise bulls which produce females that build the foundation of your cowherd for generations to come. Though our main focus is high maternal, forage-efficient cattle, we do select high carcass terminal-type outcross bulls for our customers who choose to retain ownership and market at the feedlot or on the grid.
OUR STORY
The Benton family moved to Kansas from an area called Hillhouse Hollow near Manes, Missouri, which is north of Mountain Grove. In 1961, Tom and Arlene Benton and son Tim Benton bought some Angus heifers and an Angus herd, naming the ranch Hillhouse Angus Ranch in honor of their previous home. In the early 1970s, they relocated to Anderson County and began expanding. In 1976, they began an annual production sale. In 2010, the Bentons began a private treaty sale format and continue this today. Today, the ranch is now operated by Tim and Patty Benton and their son Thomas and his wife Allison.
